After recovering her lost suitcase, Megan Pickford finally had the chance to showcase the outfit she had prepared for the World Cup. The wife of England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford wore her favorite designer ensemble to England’s match against Ghana on Tuesday. The game, held in Boston, ended in a goalless draw. The 30-year-old Megan looked stunning in the outfit; she wore a white mini-dress from ‘Club L’ priced at £125, paired with a Chanel ‘Mini Kelly’ bag worth approximately £6,000—a size that complied with the strict bag policies at US stadiums. She also accessorized with a vintage 1980s Chanel brooch. The Daily Mail online published a special report about her.
Due to the rainy weather in Boston, Megan had to wear a waterproof poncho over her stylish outfit at one point. She was seated alongside Jordan’s mother, Susan Pickford, and their seven-year-old son, Arlo. Posting a humorous photo on Instagram showing her wearing the poncho over her outfit, she captioned it “Reality,” adding a ‘melting face’ emoji and an umbrella emoji. Last week, Megan had announced her arrival in the US to support her husband, Jordan, as England began their World Cup campaign. However, the airline lost her luggage. Finally, a week later—and just hours before England’s second match—she got her bag back.
On Monday night, Megan posted a video on social media showing her opening her hotel room door to find her cherished suitcase. Dressed in pink joggers and a matching top, she pulled the bag into the room and hugged it tightly. The popular ABBA song “Honey, Honey” played in the background. She captioned the post, “A special delivery has arrived.” “This won’t be out of my sight before tomorrow’s match.” She used the hashtag #SuitcaseGate at the end of the post.
Another footballer’s wife, Ellie Watkins, commented, “Hahaha, so happy for you.”
Megan replied that the first thing she would buy is an AirTag so she could track her luggage’s location in the future. Fans also commented that this was the reunion they had been waiting for. Many wrote that they were now looking forward to seeing the outfits.
It is not known which airline lost her luggage. However, airlines generally allow passengers to claim compensation for purchasing necessary new items. For instance, British Airways allows passengers to be reimbursed up to £1,575 for “reasonable and necessary” purchases.
Although the total value of Megan’s wardrobe is unknown, she spent around £6,000 at a Celine designer boutique before the World Cup. She first posted about “SuitcaseGate” last week before England’s match against Croatia. Standing with her back to the camera and wearing a small “Three Lions” jersey with “Daddy” written on it, she wrote, “Arrived in America yesterday… but my suitcase didn’t. Am I going to wear my seven-year-old top to tonight’s match?”
Ollie Watkins’ wife, Ellie, replied, “Worst nightmare! Don’t worry, I have three suitcases full of clothes. Coming to the rescue.”
Fortunately, Megan managed to find an outfit. She looked quite striking at the match in Dallas, Texas, wearing a cowboy hat, a white vest, blue jeans, and a white handbag. Later, she revealed on social media, “I wore the same top to the match that I had traveled in, and I borrowed the jeans.”
On Thursday night, she provided an update, writing, “We’ve flown to our next destination. Jordan’s brother has stayed behind in Dallas.” “Because my suitcase was supposed to arrive in the afternoon. She added that she was booked on a night flight. I brought her suitcase with me. But when she went to collect it, she was told it would be held by customs for 24 hours. Now she is waiting in Dallas for my suitcase to clear customs. The next flight is on Saturday. And since I have her suitcase, she can’t even brush her teeth.”
She captioned the post with two laughing emojis, adding, “For those interested in the matter.”
Megan and the other WAGs faced another issue: strict restrictions on bag sizes at the stadium. Consequently, they had to leave behind many expensive designer bags they had planned to take to this summer’s World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Megan was spotted measuring bags while shopping at Selfridges. She later jokingly wrote, “We’re going to make sandwich bags popular. I even know the offside rule—in the handbag version.”
According to the rules, clear bags cannot exceed 12 inches by 12 inches in size. For non-transparent bags, the limit is 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. This allows security personnel to quickly check spectators’ belongings as they enter the stadium. For the first match, Megan complied with the rules by using a white Lady Dior bag worth over £2,500. Megan and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford married in June 2022. Upon sharing their wedding photos, Megan wrote, “The wait for the most magical day with my soulmate was worth it.”
The couple has three children: a seven-year-old son, Arlo (born in 2019); a three-year-old daughter, Ostara (born in 2023); and a one-year-old daughter, Misty (born in 2025).
