Iraq has exported over 30 million barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz over the past month.
This information was reported by the French news agency AFP.
According to the report, Iraq exported more than 30 million barrels of crude oil via the Strait of Hormuz between July 4 and August 4. This figure represents approximately 29 percent of the pre-war average monthly export volume.
Before the war, Iraq exported an average of 105 million barrels of oil per month through the Strait of Hormuz. The majority of this volume originated from oil terminals in the Basra region of southern Iraq.
Ali Nizar, head of Iraq’s state-owned oil marketing company SOMO, stated that an estimated 35.5 million to 37 million barrels of oil were transported through the Strait of Hormuz in July.
He added that an additional 7 million barrels of oil were exported via the Ceyhan port using the Iraq-Turkey pipeline during the same period.
Iraq has also transported some crude oil via tanker trucks through Syria. Furthermore, discussions are ongoing regarding plans to construct a pipeline to the Syrian port of Baniyas.
