Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Moscow is prepared to transport and store Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium.
Putin made these remarks while speaking at a press conference in Moscow. He noted that Russia had previously transferred enriched uranium from Iran in 2015, and Moscow is ready to replicate that experience.
Putin pointed out that, during the recent negotiations regarding Iran, all parties involved had initially agreed on transferring Tehran’s enriched uranium outside the country. He said, “However, the United States subsequently hardened its stance, demanding that the [Iranian] uranium be transported exclusively to U.S. territory. Following this, Iran, too, adopted a rigid position.”
Noting that Moscow continues to maintain contact with both Washington and Tehran, Putin added that he hopes this standoff will be resolved as soon as possible.
Iran has not yet offered any immediate comment on the matter.
