The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has strongly condemned the missile and drone attacks launched by the Houthis against the Saudi Arabian cities of Riyadh and Khamis Mushait. At the same time, the organization has pledged its support for Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi made these remarks in a statement.
Al-Budaiwi stated that he strongly condemns the recent ballistic missile and drone attacks by the Houthis targeting the cities of Riyadh and Khamis Mushait.
He affirmed that the GCC stands with Saudi Arabia in protecting its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, noting that the Kingdom has the right to take all necessary measures to ensure such protection.
The GCC Secretary-General called upon the international community to adopt a firm stance to ensure accountability for these actions by the Houthis.
Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced that its air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed several drones and a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis. These attacks had targeted the Riyadh region.
