US midterm elections

With about a month still remaining before the November midterm elections, over 690,000 votes have already been cast across at least 29 states. Preliminary data indicates a comparatively higher trend of Democratic participation in early voting, according to CNN.

In several states featuring key Senate and gubernatorial races, the number of ballot requests from Democrats has risen compared to the same period in 2020. In Iowa, Democrats account for 67% of ballot requests so far, up from 54% at the same time in 2020. In Pennsylvania, the figure stands at 66%, compared to 62% previously. Maine shows 57%, an increase from 53%. In North Carolina, the Democratic request rate is 42%, up from 36% two years ago.

However, these figures cannot be viewed as a direct predictor of election results. This is because a ballot does not reveal which party a voter has supported; ballots remain secret, and the actual outcome will only be known after the votes are counted.

Furthermore, early voting data reflects only a segment of the total electorate. Typically, older voters are more heavily represented among early voters, while Republican representation is lower compared to the overall voting population. Consequently, these preliminary statistics do not allow for definitive conclusions regarding the final election results.
