The minister also said that not all immigrants will get this opportunity. Even those who have recently moved to Canada will not be eligible to apply for citizenship. As a result, they will not get this opportunity. He also said that a proposal about this will be raised in the cabinet next spring.

Canada plans to reduce immigration in the next 2 years. The country will receive about 5 lakh migrants annually till 2025. Then this number can be increased again.
