The son of Yechiel Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, has been critically injured in a car-ramming attack in the occupied West Bank. He is a reservist in the Israeli army. The incident occurred on Wednesday at a checkpoint west of Ramallah. The driver of the vehicle was shot dead by Israeli forces at the scene. Al Jazeera Online reported this news.
Israeli police stated that the vehicle suddenly rammed into a checkpoint near the illegal settlement of Beit Horon, critically injuring the soldier, Neria Leiter. He was admitted to Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem, where he underwent complex surgery. Doctors have described his condition as critical. Another son of the ambassador had previously been killed during a military operation in Gaza in November 2023.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the soldier in the hospital before departing for a trip to the United States. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the young man killed in the shooting as Mahmoud Mohammad Suleiman (29). Israel has withheld his body following the incident. Additionally, Israeli forces sealed off all entrances to his village and conducted searches in various homes.
