Since October 2023, more than 60,000 children in the Gaza Strip have been orphaned after losing either their father or mother due to the Israeli military offensive. This heartbreaking information was revealed in a recent report by the Gaza Ministry of Health.

The report states that a total of 60,737 children in Gaza have lost at least one of their parents. Among them:

  • 52,095 children lost their fathers,
  • 5,929 children lost their mothers, and
  • 2,713 children lost both parents, becoming full orphans.

The Ministry of Health further reported that at least 2,276 families—comprising a total of 8,858 individuals—were completely wiped out in the war and attacks, effectively erasing their entire lineage from civil registries and official records.

The report notes that over 73,000 Palestinians have been killed so far in the conflict and attacks that began in October 2023. Although a ‘ceasefire’ agreement was reached last October, attacks by Israeli forces did not stop; more than 1,100 additional people have lost their lives in Gaza due to ongoing attacks following the signing of the agreement.
