Yemen’s Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for missile and drone attacks on various locations in Saudi Arabia. The Iran-backed rebels stated that they launched a series of drone and ballistic missile strikes targeting Saudi airports and military installations.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree announced that their forces had launched multiple drone attacks targeting Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. He claimed that these specific attacks disrupted air traffic at the facility.
He further stated that ballistic missile and drone attacks were also carried out against Abha International Airport and the Khamis Mushait airbase. Saree claimed that these attacks disrupted airport operations and caused damage to the military base.
In another statement, Saree reported that Houthi forces had launched multiple ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting three military camps: Daghari in Jizan, Akifah in Asir, and Al-Mawsim in Jizan.
Meanwhile, the Saudi-led coalition announced on Wednesday that it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile fired by the Houthis as it headed toward the Riyadh area.
Separately, an Al Jazeera report stated that Houthi rebels launched two ballistic missile attacks targeting Yemen’s Aden International Airport. No casualties were reported in the incident.
One of the two missiles struck a Saudi-led coalition unit at the Badr Center; however, no confirmed information regarding this has been obtained yet. It is believed that the missiles were fired from a nearby area controlled by the Houthi group.
