France passes new bill

This time France gave bad news to immigrants. The country has passed new laws on immigration. As a result, the government’s policy towards immigrants has become more stringent. This information was informed in a report of Al Jazeera on Wednesday (December 20).

France passed a new law on migrants on Tuesday. As a result of this law, the country’s immigration laws have become several times more difficult than before. Even children were not spared from the harshness.

During the discussion of this new law, French President Emmanuel Macron was criticized by his own party. However, at this time, the extreme rightists stood by him. Machon himself was not satisfied with the matter. However, his own party stood by the law when it was passed in the lower house of parliament. As a result, the far right did not need support.

France’s interior minister expressed his joy at the passing of the new law. He feared a heated debate in Parliament over this. He even thought of supporting the right wing on the issue. However, he was also happy that the law was passed.

The country had to rush to pass the new law. Even the draft law has been amended several times in Parliament. The country’s leftists say the bill has been changed repeatedly due to pressure from the far-right.

Due to the newly passed law, it will no longer be as easy and fast for immigrants to get a residency permit as it was before. Only for members of the European Union does the law remain unchanged. But other migrants from outside the EU now have to wait five years to get housing rights.

Migration quota has also been kept in the new law. As a result, children will also find it difficult to obtain French citizenship. Even as a result of this law, illegal immigrants can be easily expelled from the country. The law does not exclude persons below 14 years of age.
