Pop icon Madonna is now 67 years old, yet she maintains her popularity while competing with young, contemporary artists. She has preserved her youthfulness and charm, having long been known for defying the aging process in her appearance. However, she has also faced long-standing accusations of overusing filters and Photoshop on social media. Amidst this ongoing debate, she recently appeared before fans in her natural state—without any makeup or filters. The 67-year-old music star appeared as a guest on British streamer Jimskin’s channel to promote her new album. In the broadcasted video, Madonna was seen without any visible filters or excessive editing. The Daily Mail reported this story.
In the footage broadcast on the Kick platform, the only light enhancing her beauty came from a bright ring light. Naturally, the “Hung Up” singer looked much younger than her actual age, even though her face lacked the flawless, smooth finish seen in the heavily edited photos posted on Instagram. Many fans were surprised to see Madonna’s natural look, yet a large number of them praised this bold appearance. One fan wrote, “I love seeing Madonna without filters. Yes, she looks her age, but she looks great. To those saying otherwise—please compare her to other 67-year-olds.” Another commented, “Why are people surprised by her appearance? She is a woman nearing 70. She looks amazing for her age.” A third wrote, “I love that she released this without filters. She looks perfectly fine without all that editing.”
However, there was no shortage of critics either. One questioned why she couldn’t simply embrace the natural signs of aging, while another remarked, “To me, it seems Madonna is gradually starting to look like Faye Dunaway.”
Madonna remains the center of attention as she promotes her new album. She has arrived with one of the boldest music videos in years. In one scene of the 10-minute Confessions 2 visual, she is seen engaging in an intimate and suggestive performance with a young man in a nightclub restroom. The entire scene has sparked widespread discussion among audiences. It is essentially a short film created to promote her upcoming album, Confessions 2. This high-budget production also features several celebrity guests, including Moss, Benedict Cumberbatch, Odessa A’zion, and Julia Garner. Notably, Julia Garner is set to portray Madonna in an upcoming biopic about the star. The video presents visuals for the first six songs from the Confessions 2 album.
One fan wrote, “In an era of two-minute songs and 15-second mobile videos, Madonna has gifted us a 10-minute cinematic musical experience that beautifully blends art and storytelling.” Another commented, “At a time when the relevance of music videos is fading, Madonna has arrived with a full-length film covering six songs. This captures the true essence of music video culture. She has once again proven why she is the last true pop superstar.”
Madonna’s highly anticipated album, Confessions 2, is set for release on July 3rd. It serves as a follow-up to her popular 2005 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor. Previously, she had shared a lengthy Instagram post responding to criticism regarding her appearance, in which she spoke out against ageism and misogyny. She wrote, “We live in a world that refuses to celebrate women over the age of 45 and feels the need to punish them if they remain strong-willed, hardworking, and adventurous.” Madonna made it clear: “I will not apologize for my creative choices, my appearance, or my outfits, nor do I intend to start doing so now.” She added that she has faced degradation throughout her career, ever since she first rose to fame. However, she views this as part of a test.
In her words, “I understand that this is a test. And I am happily playing the role of a guide, so that the women of the next generation find an easier path in the future.”
