US President Donald Trump arrived in China on Wednesday morning. Trump traveled to China for a two-day state visit—his first in nearly a decade. China’s state-run news agency, Xinhua, confirmed this information.
According to reports, Trump’s visit is taking place at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. He is scheduled to remain in China until May 15. Several top executives from major US technology companies have joined Trump as part of his delegation for this visit.
Before departing Washington, Trump stated that trade would be the primary topic of discussion during his visit to China. However, he also indicated that extensive discussions regarding the conflict with Iran would take place.
Meanwhile, analysts anticipate that the agenda for Trump’s visit to China will be quite complex. This is because, alongside issues concerning bilateral development, trade and commerce, tariffs, and technology, the issues of Taiwan and Iran are also expected to feature prominently in the upcoming discussions.
In this context, should the negotiations fail to yield a successful outcome, tensions between the two sides could escalate.
