President Volodymyr Zelenskyy fired all of Ukraine’s regional army recruiting officers over corruption allegations. However, his decision was not well accepted by the country’s army chief, Valery Zaluzhani. He even harshly criticized Zelensky’s decision without any reservation. On Monday (December 18), Interfax reported this information to the British news agency Reuters.

Zelensky announced the dismissal of officials involved in the recruitment of troops in all regions of Ukraine after allegations of corruption emerged last August. He even warned that if the allegations were proved true, it could amount to sedition.

Asked by reporters about Zelensky’s decision at the end of a ceremony on Monday, Valery Zaluzhny expressed regret at the dismissal of the army’s recruitment chief. He said they were professional. They knew how to do it. But they were removed.

Earlier, in an article published in The Economist last November, Zaluzhny openly assessed the reality of the Ukraine battlefield. His views are in stark contrast to Zelensky’s assurances of winning the war.

In addition, Ukraine’s most influential media outlet, Ukrainska Pravda, recently cited several unidentified officials to highlight the growing conflict between the two leaders.
