Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Vietnam on December 12 and 13. During the visit, he will meet with the top officials of Vietnam and discuss the development of relations between the two countries. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this information on Thursday (December 7). Xi’s visit was also confirmed by the Communist Party of Vietnam. Reuters news.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said in a press briefing that they will accelerate strategic cooperation in addition to emphasizing discussions on political security, multilateral and maritime issues.
China and Vietnam – Both countries are looking to strengthen bilateral relations. For this reason, several Chinese officials have visited Vietnam before Xi Jinping’s visit.
China is Vietnam’s largest trading partner. Beijing supplies a large part of the country’s construction sector goods. Last October, Xi told Vietnam’s second-highest official that the two countries’ traditional friendship should not forget the “core purpose”.
China and the United States are trying to expand their influence in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. A few months ago, Vietnam upgraded its relationship with the United States to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Through this, Hanoi has brought its once enemy Washington on par with Beijing and Moscow.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang said China and Vietnam have had frequent high-level exchanges since the beginning of this year. There has been a close exchange of views in various areas. Cooperation has also continued to strengthen. Deeper cooperation between the two countries will help maintain peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
