That historic photo, which recently went viral, has once again become a topic of discussion. This is because, 19 years later, that same infant is now set to face Messi’s Argentina in the World Cup final while representing Spain.
That is not all. Remarkably, both players made their World Cup debuts at the age of 19. Lamine Yamal made his debut in the current World Cup at 19, just as Messi played his first World Cup in 2006 at the same age.
Another coincidence is that both wore the number 19 jersey during their World Cup debuts.
There are similar parallels regarding their time at Barcelona. Although Messi made his debut wearing the number 30 jersey, he quickly switched to number 19.
