A Russian advisor has warned that British factories manufacturing drones for Ukraine could face attacks by an “unknown party.” This warning follows Britain’s decision to supply designs for long-range missiles to Ukraine.
Andrei Fedorov, a former Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that he cannot entirely rule out the possibility of a “paramilitary-style” operation against Britain.
He made these remarks to the BBC news site around the time British Prime Minister Andy Burnham was visiting the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. This was the British Prime Minister’s first foreign visit since assuming office.
During the visit to Kyiv, Britain reaffirmed its “unwavering” support for Ukraine. Meanwhile, Ukraine offered to provide Britain with vast amounts of battlefield intelligence—data that officials described as a “gold mine” for bolstering British security.
In a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Burnham assured him that there would be “no change” in Britain’s firm support for Ukraine.
“Not just a verbal response—something tangible could happen”
Fedorov stated that, at some point, Russia might respond to Britain with tangible actions rather than just verbal statements.
When asked to elaborate, he explained that this could involve various measures, such as a “technological response,” a cyberattack from an unknown source, or even political actions.
He added, “I cannot entirely rule out the possibility of something paramilitary in nature occurring.”
Responding to a question about what he meant by “paramilitary,” Fedorov cited the example of incidents occurring at companies or factories manufacturing drones for Ukraine.
When asked if this meant Russia might launch a military strike on British factories located on British soil, he replied:
“They could be attacked—not by Russia, but rather… from an unknown source.” Meanwhile, Britain has decided to disclose the design of the SCALP missile—which incorporates British-made components—to Ukraine. SCALP is a French-manufactured long-range missile; it is the French version of the British Storm Shadow and has already been deployed against various targets in Russia.
Moscow has already strongly condemned this decision by London. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, stated that this move would “add fuel to the fire” of the conflict.
