War and Genocide Can Never Be Accepted: Catherine Connolly

“Under no circumstances can war and genocide against humanity be accepted as normal occurrences. I strongly condemn the horrors of conflict and violence across the globe. Such crimes cannot be legitimized.”

Irish President Catherine Connolly delivered this strong message during a significant meeting with US President Donald Trump in the capital, Dublin.

In an official statement issued after the meeting, the Irish President noted that she had highlighted to the US President the importance of maintaining international relations, respecting the core principles of the United Nations, and the country’s proud contribution to UN peacekeeping missions since 1958.

Reiterating the firm stance of the Irish people, she emphasized that the people of Ireland are capable of offering a unique and effective perspective on resolving conflicts worldwide. She affirmed that Ireland will always stand by and extend its full support to those courageously working to build sustainable, collaborative peace in areas currently plagued by inhumane conflict.
