The United States has carried out “defensive strikes” against radar and military installations in the Iranian city of Goruk and on Qeshm Island. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed this information. In a post on the social media platform X regarding the strikes conducted over the weekend, they asserted that the attacks were launched in response to Iran’s aggressive actions. According to CENTCOM, this measure was taken following the downing of an MQ-1 drone in international waters.

CENTCOM claims that the operation resulted in the destruction of Iranian air defense systems, a ground control station, and two one-way attack drones. According to US forces, this military equipment posed a clear threat to vessels navigating through regional waterways. However, no immediate reaction regarding these strikes has been received from Iranian authorities. Furthermore, it was not immediately possible to independently verify the veracity of the US claims through neutral sources.
