An F-16 fighter jet has crashed near the US airbase at Spangdahlem in West Germany. The US military announced this information on Tuesday. The pilot managed to eject safely before the crash and is receiving medical treatment.
A statement from the US military indicated that the cause of the accident is being investigated.
The statement further noted that the aircraft crashed while returning to Spangdahlem Air Base following a routine training flight.
Spangdahlem Air Base reported that the fighter jet crashed around 2:30 PM local time on Tuesday. Smoke was observed near the crash site following the incident.
The crashed aircraft belonged to the US Air Force’s 52nd Fighter Wing.
This incident occurred just days after another F-16 fighter jet, belonging to the Texas National Guard, crashed in Michigan.
