Thousands of children have lost their lives in the Israeli offensive in Gaza since October 2023. A unique initiative has been launched in the Netherlands to honor their memory. On August 1, thousands of pairs of children’s shoes were lined up on Scheveningen Beach in The Hague.
The 7,000 shoes placed on the beach served as symbols of the lives of the children who were killed, highlighting the profound humanitarian impact of the genocide committed by Israel. Participants gathered there throughout the day to pay tribute to the victims and express solidarity with the Palestinian people.
The organizers aim to raise awareness about the Israeli offensive in Gaza.
According to recent United Nations data, approximately 20,000 children have been killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7, 2023, and more than 44,000 have been injured.
Additionally, thousands more children remain missing; it is believed they are trapped beneath the rubble.
In this besieged enclave, at least 132,000 children under the age of five are at extreme risk due to severe hunger, and many have already died of starvation.
