This time the Yemeni rebel group Houthi has threatened to attack the US warship. After attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea, this time they have threatened the United States. This information was reported in a Reuters report on Wednesday (December 20).
Houthis said in a warning on Wednesday that this time they will attack US warships. Such action will be taken if any kind of attack on the country is carried out by the United States. The Houthis made the threat after the country formed a coalition to protect and respond to attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea.
The Houthis rule most of Yemen. The group has been attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea since last month in response to Israeli attacks on Palestine. As a result, shipping in the Red Sea has become a threat.
Earlier on Monday, the United States formed a task force with 10 countries to prevent Houthi attacks. The task force will work to ensure smooth movement of cargo ships in the Red Sea. After the formation of this task force, the Houthis have been threatening the Americans.
The United States invited 49 countries to form the task force. However, only 10 countries have joined the alliance. Even their call was not joined by any country from the Middle East except Bahrain.
Threatening to attack US warships, the Houthi leader said, if the US gets more involved, the Houthis will not be silent. We will launch missile attacks on their warships and other assets. He also urged other countries not to join the task force formed by the US.
The Houthis said they would ensure Israel’s genocide in Gaza and adequate supplies of relief and medicine. Unless these are confirmed, they will not stop attacking ships.
