After the besieged northern part of Gaza, Israel has started a ground operation in the south. However, the United States has stated the probable time when the ground operation in the region will end. This information was reported in a CNN report on Wednesday (November 6).
US media reported that White House officials have indicated a possible timeline for the end of ground operations in southern Gaza. They said that Israel can end this campaign in January. After this period, operations will be conducted only on specific targets.
Citing several senior officials, CNN reported that White House officials are concerned about the terror that the IDF operation will spread in Gaza in the coming weeks. They warned Israel to minimize damage and civilian casualties.
A senior official said they objected to Israel reducing the number of casualties in the operation to an “acceptable” level.
An Israeli official told CNN that we will conduct a massive operation in Gaza in the next few weeks. After that, the level of raids may decrease a lot.
Meanwhile, Hamas is using sophisticated military tactics and weapons in the fight against Israel. One of Hamas’ most significant tactical changes is its increased use of anti-tank explosive EFPs. This weapon was used only twice in last October and November, but the Palestinian fighters have used it five times this month.
In a video released by Hamas on December 2, Hamas fighters, in addition to tank-destroying explosives, were using one-way attack drones targeting Israeli forces in the northern Gaza Strip. The use of these drones on the battlefield is also a major technological advance for Hamas.
Veronika Ponisjakova, an expert on the military side of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at the University of Portsmouth in the UK, said Hamas has been developing drones for decades. They have already used these drones. But not so effectively. They have so far been used mainly for training purposes.
He said Hamas could do the same tactics used by Israeli forces in northern and southern Gaza. They could launch kamikaze drone strikes targeting Israeli forces before direct conflict.
In addition to improving weapons, the US think tank also noted that Hamas is preparing a new plan of action in the fight against Israel in southern Gaza.
