There has been a suicide attack on a military base in Pakistan. The attack took place in the northwest of the country on Tuesday (December 12). At least 23 soldiers of the country were killed in this. This information was given in a report of Al Jazeera.
According to the report, the attack took place in Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday morning. It is bordering Afghanistan.
According to an ISPR statement, members of the armed group carried out a suicide bomb attack along with an explosive-laden vehicle at the main gate of the military base. The entire building collapsed. During this time, several people were injured. Apart from this, at least six suicide bombers were killed in the attack.
At least 34 people were taken to Dera Ismail Khan Military Hospital after the attack, Al Jazeera reported.
An army official said on condition of anonymity that the army personnel were sleeping at the time of the attack. Apart from this, it is being checked whether all of them are army personnel as they are in civilian clothes.
The SPR said the army was conducting an operation to evacuate militants across the city after the attack.
Pakistan’s armed group Tehreek-e-Jihad (TJP) claimed responsibility for the attack on the army in a statement.
