Mojtaba Khamenei

Mojtaba Khamenei—son of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an attack by the United States and Israel—has stated that “revenge” for his father’s killing will certainly be taken.

A statement by Mojtaba, published by Iran’s state news agency Fars, reads: “Taking revenge is the demand of our nation, and it will certainly be carried out.”

Addressing the late leader, the statement says, “We vow to avenge your sacred blood and the blood of all the martyrs of these two wars from those criminal and disgraced murderers.”

In the statement, Mojtaba Khamenei says, “The names of all these criminals, from top to bottom, are known and documented. The wish they harbor in their hearts—to die peacefully in bed in their old age—will go to the grave with them. They should know that this matter does not depend on whether I or any other official remains alive or not.”

The statement adds, “Whether we live or not, this pledge will be fulfilled very ‘soon’.”

US President Donald Trump recently threatened to “wipe Iran off the face of the earth” if the country attempted to assassinate him. This warning from Iran came within hours of his threat.

Recently, Israeli intelligence officials claimed that a plot to assassinate the US President was being hatched. According to Israeli and US officials, a faction of Tehran’s hardline leaders harbors the desire to kill Trump. However, two US sources familiar with the matter offered a different perspective; recent US intelligence assessments have found no evidence of any new or specific plot to assassinate Trump, although there is considerable speculation regarding the desire of various Iranian factions to kill him.

Mojtaba Khamenei has not yet been seen in public since his appointment as the new Supreme Leader.

It is believed that he was also injured during the US-Israeli aggression last February, an attack that claimed the lives of his father, mother, children, and wife. Since the outbreak of the war, this new Supreme Leader has not appeared in public. He has maintained contact with his supporters solely through written statements, never once showing his face or delivering a message in his own voice.

Very few messages from Mojtaba have been released since his appointment as Supreme Leader; Saturday’s message is one of them.
