One person was killed and at least 19 others were injured in an explosion in an area of northern Israel near the Lebanese border. Israeli media reported that four of the injured are in serious condition. Preliminary assessments suggest the blast was caused by an unexploded bomb or old ordnance.
According to a report by The Times of Israel, the explosion occurred at Yiftah in the Ramim Ridge area, resulting in casualties among people nearby. Israeli police later indicated that an unexploded bomb might have been the cause of the blast in the northern region.
Describing the incident as serious, media outlets reported that the Israeli military assisted in rescuing the injured, swiftly evacuating them from the scene and arranging for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Israeli media also reported that approximately 20 travelers were injured in an explosion in an open area near Kibbutz Neot Mordechai in the Galilee region. Reports noted that the injured included students and teachers, with initial information indicating that some were in critical condition.
Military helicopters and personnel from Magen David Adom—Israel’s emergency medical service—were deployed to the scene to conduct rescue and medical operations.
Preliminary investigations point to old, unexploded ordnance as the likely cause of the explosion. However, security forces were continuing their investigation to confirm exactly how the blast occurred.
