New York City Council Member Zohran Mamdani has strongly condemned the ongoing war against Iran. He stated that this conflict is having a devastating impact on ordinary civilians abroad, as well as on working-class families in the United States. In a post shared on the social media platform X, Mamdani noted that three months ago, a war began for which no one voted—yet the price is being paid by the very people who had no say in the matter.
He further added that thousands of civilians have lost their lives, noting specifically that thirteen U.S. service members will never return to their families. Americans across this country and in our city are witnessing rising prices at gas stations and grocery stores. Their budgets are being strained by a conflict that was initiated without a single vote from Congress. Every life lost abroad—and every dollar taken from a working-class family here—is part of the same reckless bill: one imposed upon the very people least equipped to bear its cost. And those who imposed it will never be the ones to pay the price.
