Katy Perry is an American singer-songwriter, businesswoman & television judge. She was born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson in Santa Barbara, California, on October 25, – 1984. She began singing at a young age, performing in her local church and singing backup for her parents’ gospel group. As a teenager, she adopted the stage name Katy Perry, and released her first album, Katy Hudson, in 2001.

Although the album was not successful, Perry continued to pursue her music career. In 2007, she released her major-label debut, One of the Boys. The album featured the number-one hit single “I Kissed a Girl,” which made Perry a global superstar. She followed this success with the albums Teenage Dream (2010) and Prism (2013). Both albums featured numerous hit singles, including “California Gurls,” “Firework,” “The One That Got Away,” and “Roar.”

Throughout her career, Perry has also been involved in numerous philanthropic causes. She has partnered with UNICEF, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Humane Society, among others. She has also served as a judge on the television show American Idol.

In 2019, Perry released her fifth studio album, Smile. The album featured the singles “Small Talk,” “Never Really Over,” and “Harleys in Hawaii.” Perry continues to tour and perform around the world.
