Muhammad Abu Alwan, the head of Hamas’s finance division, has been killed in an attack by Israeli forces in Khan Yunis, in the Gaza Strip. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz made this claim.
In a joint statement posted on the social media platform X, Netanyahu and Katz commended the Israeli military and the country’s internal intelligence agency, describing the operation as a “precision strike.”
Earlier, citing the Nasser Medical Complex, reports indicated that at least two people were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Yunis. It was not immediately clear whether the attack mentioned in Netanyahu’s statement referred to that specific incident.
Meanwhile, another Palestinian was wounded by Israeli gunfire north of Khan Yunis.
Casualties have also been reported in other parts of Gaza. One person was killed in a drone strike on a camp for displaced persons in the northeastern part of Gaza City. Additionally, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital reported that a woman was killed by Israeli gunfire in the Bureij refugee camp.
Netanyahu and Katz made no comment regarding these other attacks and casualties in their joint statement.
