Chris Rock (born Christopher Julius Rock III on February 7, 1965) is an American Comedian, Actor, Writer, Producer & director. He began his Career as a Stand-up Comedian in the late 1980s before gaining wider attention for his work as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from – 1990 to 1993. Rock has since transitioned to film, appearing in over 30 films & producing 10. His work in film has earned him numerous awards – including two Emmy Awards, two Grammy Awards & a Golden Globe Award.
Rock has been a fixture of the stand-up comedy scene since the mid -1980s & has become one of the most Popular & Successful Comedians of All time… He has released five comedy albums, including his debut, Born Suspect (1991), which went platinum. He is also known for his politically charged stand-up routines and his outspoken nature. He has appeared on numerous Television programs, including The Chris Rock Show, Everybody Hates Chris and Real Time with Bill Maher… He has also hosted the Academy Awards twice, in 2005 & 2016.
Rock is also an accomplished actor, appearing in such films as Dogma (1999), Nurse Betty (2000), Head of State (2003), I Think I Love My Wife (2007), 2 Days in New York (2012), and Top Five (2014)… He has also starred in his own stand-up specials, such as Bigger & Blacker (1999), Never Scared (2004) & Kill the Messenger (2008)…
In addition to his comedy career, Rock has also ventured into writing and directing, having written and directed the film, Head of State (2003). He has also written and directed the television series, Everybody Hates Chris (2005-2009).
Rock has been married twice, first to – Malaak Compton-Rock (1996-2016) and then to – Megalyn Echikunwoke (2018-present). He has four children.
