A suicide car bomb attack targeted a shuttle train in the city of Quetta, located in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan, on Sunday morning. At least 24 people were killed in the incident. The train was carrying members of the security forces and their families.

Citing three officials from the provincial government and security forces, reports indicate that at least 24 people were killed and approximately 70 injured in the explosion. These officials provided the information on the condition of anonymity, as they are not authorized to speak to the media.
A statement from Pakistan’s Ministry of Railways stated that the shuttle train was traveling from the cantonment area of Quetta to link up with the Zafar Express. The explosion occurred near a railway line in the provincial capital while the train was en route.
The blast derailed the train’s engine and three carriages, while two other carriages overturned. The Ministry added that security forces have cordoned off the entire area, and rescue operations are currently underway.
