Former U.S. President Barack Obama has stated that his party’s sweeping victory demonstrates that the American people desire change.
In a post on the social media platform X, Obama wrote, “Tonight, the American people have sent a clear message. They want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and they want leaders who can offer realistic solutions to the challenges they face.”
Obama had participated in campaign efforts for several Democratic candidates in swing states, such as Michigan and Georgia.
He added, “Now, our task is to roll up our sleeves and get to work—to bring about change wherever we have the power to do so, to prevent further harm, and to lay the groundwork for the future.”
