Reports have emerged of another powerful explosion at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. A fire broke out at the airport terminal after it was struck by an “unidentified” object. The Saudi-led coalition announced this information on Sunday.

In a statement posted on the social media platform X, coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki stated that an “unidentified object” struck Terminal 4 of the airport, sparking a fire. He added that relevant authorities are working at the scene to bring the fire under control and manage the situation.

While reports of the fire in Sunday’s incident have surfaced, no immediate details regarding casualties or the extent of the damage have been provided. The nature of the “unidentified object” remains unclear, and a detailed statement from Saudi authorities is awaited.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that a missile attack on the same airport on Saturday left 12 people dead and 309 injured. The casualties included four Saudi nationals as well as citizens from Bangladesh, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan. Some of the injured are in critical condition.

The Saudi-led coalition has blamed Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels for these attacks. The coalition asserts that such attacks targeting civilian infrastructure constitute war crimes. Airport operations have been suspended since Saturday’s attack, resulting in numerous flight cancellations and significant inconvenience for passengers.
