The Strait of Hormuz is currently open. Excluding Iranian oil, the volume of oil being transported through this route is roughly the same as it was before the outbreak of hostilities.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made these remarks in an interview with the American news outlet Fox News.
Rubio stated that if Iran were to possess nuclear weapons, it could hold the world “hostage.” The situation could change drastically if Iran had nuclear arms; it could establish control over the Strait of Hormuz, impose “tolls” or levies, and dictate which countries receive fuel and which do not. This represents an “unacceptable risk.”
