An Iranian delegation is set to hold talks with Qatari mediators in New York. The Iranian team will participate in the discussions under the leadership of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Iran’s news agency ISNA reported that the delegation, led by Foreign Minister Araghchi, will meet with the mediators on Monday morning (local time). A Qatari delegation is currently in New York acting as mediators; it was through them that Iran submitted a seven-day roadmap to US officials last week regarding a ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
ISNA stated that the Iranian delegation will discuss the overall situation and the latest proposals with the mediators.
Meanwhile, the Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that Iran has no plans for direct talks with the United States.
Citing an unnamed source, IRNA reported that the Iranian delegation will return to Tehran from New York tomorrow, Tuesday.
Separately, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Ali Khamenei said in a message today that attacks by Iranian military forces and the guardians of the Strait of Hormuz have forced “enemy” forces to retreat from Iran’s southern coastal waters toward the Arabian Sea… and that they will soon be driven out of the Arabian Sea as well.
