Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Iran and China have the potential to play a significant role in establishing a just international order, strengthening multilateralism, and ensuring peace and stability.
In an article published in an Iranian newspaper, he noted that the future of the strategic partnership between the two nations is brighter and more dynamic than ever before. Tehran and Beijing aim to embark on a new chapter of cooperation rooted in mutual trust and the firm political will of their respective leaders.
Marking the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Araghchi described China as a “friend in times of need” for Iran. He remarked that the cooperation between the two countries in fostering regional peace and security reflects their shared commitment to long-term stability.
Araghchi highlighted that ties between Tehran and Beijing have deepened and expanded in recent years, even amidst Western sanctions and the “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran. He identified China as Iran’s primary economic partner and commended its role within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), BRICS, and the UN Security Council.
The Iranian Foreign Minister criticized the anti-Iran actions of the United States and Israel, stating that they violate international law, the UN Charter, and ethical principles. Under these circumstances, he called upon peace-loving nations to take more effective measures to safeguard international peace and security.
Araghchi asserted that multilateral organizations such as the SCO and BRICS could serve as effective tools to dismantle the monopoly on global power and establish a fairer international order that serves the interests of developing nations.
He affirmed Iran’s readiness to further strengthen strategic ties with member states—including China—by leveraging the opportunities offered by these frameworks. In his view, Iran-China cooperation serves not only the interests of the two nations but also acts as a model for establishing just multilateralism, lasting peace, and stability within the emerging international order.
