Two people were killed and at least five others injured in a shooting near the Space Needle observation tower in Seattle, Washington. The BBC reported this, citing the Seattle Fire Department.
According to an AFP report, Seattle police announced the shooting incident on Sunday (local time). It is believed that multiple gunmen were involved.
BBC reports indicate that two individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. Among the injured is a two-year-old child, who was taken to the hospital in stable condition; a 56-year-old woman is in serious condition.
Another injured person sustained minor injuries and opted not to go to the hospital. However, the fire department did not release further details regarding the nature of the injuries.
Police did not immediately state whether the attackers had been apprehended, but they indicated that further details regarding the incident would be released later.
A food festival was being held at the Seattle Center. Known as “Bite of Seattle,” the weekend event featured hundreds of food vendors and musical performances.
