A mass wedding ceremony has been organized in Iran—a truly grand affair. But who are the bride and groom at this wedding ceremony? In reality, this mass wedding has been arranged specifically for Iranians who are ready to sacrifice their lives in a war against the United States and Israel. The event was organized by the government.

The mass wedding took place last night, Monday. Hundreds of brides and grooms participated in ceremonies held across various districts of the capital, Tehran. Notably, at Imam Hossein Square in Tehran alone, more than a hundred men and women tied the knot. The event was broadcast on state television. It is reported that this broadcast was arranged to boost the morale of the Iranian people in the face of threats from US President Donald Trump.

According to reports in the Iranian media, the government’s mass wedding initiative is named ‘Janfada.’ Translated into English, the term means ‘Self-Sacrifice.’ The Iranians participating in this program are prepared to lay down their lives in the event of a war. For instance, should the United States or Israel launch an attack on an Iranian power plant, these individuals stand ready to form a human shield outside that facility.

The Iranian government has stated that hundreds of thousands of people have joined this program. Among them are President Masoud Pezeshkian and the Speaker of Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. In fact, the Iranian authorities have been undertaking such initiatives ever since the outbreak of hostilities. Almost daily, large-scale pro-government rallies are being organized across the country. The objective of these events is to bolster public support for the government.

Last night at Imam Hossein Square, the brides and grooms arrived in military-style jeeps. These vehicles were mounted with machine guns. The wedding stage itself was adorned with balloons. A young woman, dressed in bridal attire, spoke on the condition of anonymity, stating, “Undoubtedly, the country is in the midst of a conflict. However, young men and women still have the right to get married.” A groom present at the ceremony remarked, “We have come here to extend our best wishes to the people out on the streets.”
