US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the United States launched another round of strikes against Iran late Wednesday night. Three people were killed and several others injured in the attack in Ahvaz, Iran.
In a statement, CENTCOM said, “US forces struck approximately 90 Iranian military targets. These included air defense systems, coastal surveillance equipment, missile and drone depots, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along the Iranian coast.”
CENTCOM noted that this latest strike followed a previous round of attacks carried out against Iran on Tuesday night.
US forces had claimed to have struck over 80 targets in Iran on Tuesday night. Iran reacted strongly to this new US attack. In a retaliatory move, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have attacked 85 US military targets in Bahrain and Kuwait within a few hours.
The IRGC termed the surprise US attack a “serious violation” of the ceasefire. Following Tuesday’s exchange of attacks, US President Donald Trump announced the termination of the ceasefire with Iran.
3 Killed in Ahvaz
Three people were killed and several others injured in a US strike near Ahvaz, the capital of Iran’s Khuzestan province, which borders Iraq. Iran’s state news agency, IRNA, reported the news.
Valiollah Hayati, the Deputy Governor for Security and Law Enforcement in Khuzestan province, told IRNA that the Israel-US coalition launched an attack targeting a facility on the outskirts of Ahvaz city in the early hours of the morning. Rescue and medical operations are currently underway at the site.
