Pakistan has handed over to the United States the latest revised proposal submitted by Iran regarding the cessation of hostilities in the Middle East. A Pakistani source confirmed this information to the news agency Reuters on Monday (May 18).
The Pakistani source noted that the two sides have limited time remaining to bridge their differences.
Subsequently, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghai confirmed that Tehran’s perspective had been conveyed to the United States through Pakistan. However, he did not provide any further details on the matter.
For its part, the Pakistani source also refrained from disclosing any specifics regarding this new proposal.
A ceasefire between Iran and the United States has been in effect since April 8. However, despite the truce, sporadic attacks have continued to occur in various countries across the Middle East. Furthermore, Iranian and US forces have even engaged in clashes within the Strait of Hormuz.
In this context, US President Donald Trump remarked at the time that the ceasefire with Iran was “on massive life support.”
Prior to this, Iran had submitted a proposal in response to a 14-point proposal put forward by the United States. However, Trump immediately rejected it, dismissing it as “garbage.”
Following that rejection, Iran has now sent this latest revised proposal through Pakistan.
