Amidst a wartime situation in the Middle East, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Friday (May 15), marking the first leg of a five-nation tour. Upon Modi’s arrival, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended a warm welcome to him. This is reported by Gulf News.

An Indian government official stated that during this visit, the two nations signed agreements regarding strategic defense cooperation, petroleum reserves, and the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

Additionally, the UAE announced an investment of $5 billion across three entities: India Infrastructure, RBL Bank, and Samman Capital.
The report notes that during his meeting with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Modi condemned the attacks directed at the UAE amidst the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

On this occasion, the Indian Prime Minister stated that the manner in which the UAE has been targeted is unacceptable. He added that the restraint with which the country has handled the current situation is worthy of praise.
Gulf News observes that Modi’s visit underscores the ongoing momentum in India-UAE relations, with both sides keen to further deepen their strategic and economic partnership.

Earlier, in a social media post, Modi expressed his eagerness to hold discussions aimed at further strengthening India-UAE ties across key sectors, including energy, investment, and supply chain cooperation.
