According to the text messages received on the mobile phone of human rights activist Hafiza Abdullah, someone has deposited money equivalent to 1 thousand crore rupees in Hafiza’s account, which the account holder Hafiza was completely unaware of.
This information emerged in a report by the news agency Bloomberg on Friday (December 1).
Last month, 404 million ringgit (Malaysian currency) was deposited into the bank account of Malaysian citizen Hafiz, which is worth about 1 thousand crore taka in Bangladeshi taka.
Hafiza is a customer of Malaysia’s largest bank May-Bank. While the country’s annual per capita income is $22,000, nearly $90 million worth of cash in the account is a dream come true for Hafiza.
Human rights activist Hafiza said that although the money was deposited, she could not withdraw money from her bank account or make any kind of transaction in the account.
In a post written on social media on 29th of last month, Hafiza said, “I don’t need such careless money.” But this experience will be remembered forever. The problem is that for this money I can’t even use my account for my daily banking activities.
Hafiza said that she contacted the bank branch and customer service center several times to solve this problem.
According to the latest message from the bank, this is due to a technical error by the bank. But now that is resolved. Hafiza can use her account again if she wants.
