Following their meeting on Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin characterized their relationship as both ‘unbreakable’ and “unprecedented.”

Speaking after the talks, Xi stated that the relationship between Beijing and Moscow stands at the highest level of a comprehensive strategic partnership. Putin, for his part, described the ties between the two nations as having reached an unprecedentedly high level.
A report by the news agency AFP notes that Russia launched its full-scale military operation in Ukraine in February 2022. Since that time, relations between Moscow and Beijing have grown even closer.
According to a BBC report, Putin and Xi signed multiple agreements across the trade, energy, and media sectors on the very first day of their meetings. Furthermore, both nations pledged to further strengthen their bilateral ties.

Following the meeting, both leaders issued a warning directed at the United States. Alluding to Washington, Xi Jinping cautioned against what he described as rising “unilateral and hegemonic tendencies” in the world. Additionally, the two nations conveyed a message to the US regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

During the day’s proceedings, both leaders called for an end to “unilateral” interference in international trade and supply chains.

Moreover, in a joint declaration issued after the meeting, Russia and China sounded a warning, stating that the world is at risk of reverting to the “law of the jungle.”

Without explicitly naming the United States, the declaration released following the Putin-Xi summit asserted that attempts by certain nations to dominate the world—driven by a colonial-era mentality—are doomed to fail.

Subsequently, in their joint statement, China and Russia condemned the US-planned “Golden Dome” project, as well as the potential deployment of weapons in outer space.
