US forces have launched missile attacks on an Iranian tanker near Kharg Island. This information was reported by Reuters on Saturday (September 5), citing the Tasnim News Agency.
Tasnim News reported that US forces fired at least four missiles at the Iranian oil tanker.
Citing local sources, the Tasnim report stated that there were no casualties in the attack and the tanker’s crew had been evacuated.
However, there was no immediate comment from Iran regarding the attack. Additionally, US Central Command did not respond to inquiries from Reuters.
Kharg Island is critically important to Iran’s oil industry; 90 percent of the country’s crude oil exports originate there. US President Donald Trump had previously threatened to seize this region.
