Trump announces start of oil, gas, and mineral exploration in Greenland.

US President Donald Trump has announced that preparations are underway to launch large-scale exploration for oil, gas, and mineral resources in Greenland.

Speaking on Wednesday, Trump stated that exploration activities in Greenland are set to begin, though he did not provide specific details regarding the plans.

Trump claimed that experts believe Greenland holds reserves of easily extractable oil far exceeding those found in almost any other part of the world.

Greenland has long been a focus of US interest due to its strategic location and potential for vast mineral wealth. However, Trump’s remarks lacked specific details regarding the plans to explore for oil, gas, and other minerals on the island.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump warned that any future attack on the United States launched via Greenland would result in the interception and destruction of any incoming weaponry, including drones and missiles.

In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated, “Any future attack on the United States would have to come via Greenland. Our defense forces there would routinely shoot down drones, missiles, or any weapon—even those not yet imagined.”

Tensions had previously arisen among the US, Denmark, and Greenland following Trump’s repeated suggestions about taking control of the strategically important and mineral-rich island. To ease these tensions, the three parties signed an agreement last September.

The agreement paved the way for an expanded US military presence and role in Greenland. It also opened the door for establishing two new military bases and deploying the “Golden Dome” missile defense system proposed by Trump.

However, the agreement reaffirmed Denmark’s sovereignty and the right of the Greenlandic people to self-determination.

Greenland is a strategically important island situated in the North Atlantic and Arctic regions. The United States has long maintained an interest in the territory due to its location and mineral resources.
