Iran used Chinese satellite imagery in the attack on the US base in Jordan

Iran utilized Chinese satellite imagery to carry out an attack on a US military base in Jordan. Three US soldiers were killed in that attack.

The Wall Street Journal reported this information, citing US officials.

Citing US officials directly involved in the matter, the newspaper reported that Iran had obtained high-resolution satellite images of Jordan’s Muwaffaq Salti Air Base—the very site that was attacked.

However, US officials did not disclose the names of the Chinese companies that supplied these images to Iran. Nor did they allege that Beijing was directly involved in the attack.

The Wall Street Journal report stated that senior US officials had raised this issue with their Chinese counterparts; however, the Chinese officials denied the allegations and demanded evidence.

Earlier in May, Washington had imposed sanctions on three Chinese companies for supplying such satellite imagery to Iran.
