The final draft of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States includes provisions regarding Tehran’s nuclear program, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and the lifting of US oil sanctions on Iran. A senior Iranian official disclosed this information to the news agency Reuters.

The official further stated that negotiations on the final agreement would take place within 60 days of both parties signing a preliminary agreement.

According to the information provided by the Iranian official, the draft MoU includes the following points:
Strait of Hormuz

Upon signing the preliminary agreement, Iran will open the Strait of Hormuz to all types of commercial vessels. Conversely, the United States will lift the naval blockade on Iranian ports. The process of lifting US sanctions will begin immediately after the MoU is signed and will be completed within 30 days.
Financial Sector

The United States has agreed not to impose any new sanctions on Iran until a final agreement is reached.

Following the final agreement, all US and UN sanctions on Iran will be lifted within a specified timeframe.

The United States will lift sanctions on Iran’s oil sector for a specific period, enabling Tehran to sell oil and generate revenue.
Frozen Assets

The United States has agreed to release $25 billion of Iranian assets frozen in foreign banks. These funds will be released through direct cash transfers, cooperation with regional countries, and specific credit lines.

Washington will coordinate with its regional allies to formulate a reconstruction and development plan for Iran, which will be finalized through discussions and agreement with Tehran within the next 60 days.

Tehran has agreed not to develop or acquire any nuclear weapons.

Until the final agreement is concluded, Iran will maintain the current status of its nuclear program and refrain from further uranium enrichment or the expansion of nuclear facilities.

Under a future comprehensive agreement, Iran has agreed to downgrade its stockpile of highly enriched uranium. The United States has agreed that this will be carried out on Iranian territory.

Within 60 days of signing the proposed memorandum of understanding, discussions will be held regarding Iran’s nuclear program, uranium enrichment activities, and strategies for managing stockpiles of highly enriched uranium; these will then be incorporated into the final agreement.
