Kuwait has signed an agreement with Pakistan to strengthen defense and military cooperation. According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Kuwaiti Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah and Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif signed the agreement in Islamabad. Kuwaiti Army Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Shuraiyan and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Islamabad, Nasser Al-Mutairi, were present at the signing ceremony.
The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense announced the agreement in a press release on Thursday. The Kuwaiti Defense Minister visited Islamabad as part of a trip to Pakistan, where he was accorded a formal military reception. During the meeting, bilateral relations between Kuwait and Pakistan were reviewed, and discussions were held on the potential for enhancing close cooperation in the military and defense sectors.
Additionally, representatives from both countries discussed the latest regional and international developments, issues of mutual interest, and potential joint courses of action. Emphasis was also placed on strengthening regional security and stability, as well as further solidifying the strategic partnership between the two nations. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense stated that the signing of the agreement marks a significant milestone in military and defense cooperation between the two countries. It establishes a framework for enhancing operational coordination between their armed forces, exchanging experiences, and improving levels of preparedness and mutual coordination. The agreement is expected to safeguard the shared interests of both nations while contributing to security and stability in the Gulf region and the broader area.
