Hamas has confirmed the death of Izz al-Din al-Haddad—the chief of its military wing in Gaza, Palestine—along with his wife and daughter. Earlier, Israel had claimed responsibility for killing the Hamas leader in an airstrike.

Subsequently, in a statement, the Palestinian resistance organization confirmed the claim regarding Izz al-Din’s death.

Last October, Israel and Hamas agreed to a ceasefire, under which both parties pledged to halt attacks. However, in violation of that ceasefire, Israel carried out an attack in the Gaza Strip, killing the top Hamas military leader.

Izz al-Din al-Haddad is the highest-ranking Hamas official to be killed in an attack in Gaza since the ceasefire went into effect.

The Israeli military announced yesterday, Saturday, that Izz al-Din al-Haddad was killed on Friday—the previous day—during a precision strike targeting a specific objective in Gaza City.

Friday marked the 78th anniversary of Palestine’s Nakba Day. In 1948, during the unilateral establishment of the State of Israel, approximately 750,000 residents were expelled from Palestinian territories. Palestinians observe “Nakba Day” annually to commemorate this event.

On this year’s Nakba Day, Israel carried out an attack that resulted in the death of Izz al-Din, the chief of Hamas’s military wing.

Hamas’s statement noted that Izz al-Din’s wife and daughter were also killed alongside him. The statement described Izz al-Din—who was born in 1970—as a pivotal figure in Hamas’s military operations.

Yesterday, funeral prayers for Izz al-Din, his wife, and his 19-year-old daughter were held at the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Mosque in central Gaza.

On Friday, Israeli forces carried out at least two attacks in the Gaza Strip. Local health officials reported that at least seven Palestinians were killed in these attacks, including three women and two children. According to Palestinian sources, a Hamas leader was killed along with his entire family in an attack on an apartment building.
