Delhi Police detains Rahul and Priyanka again.

Delhi Police detained Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday night following a protest that lasted nearly nine hours against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They were taken into custody while protesting in front of the Akashvani Bhavan.

Apart from Rahul and Priyanka, the police also detained several other senior Congress leaders. Opposition parties have raised questions regarding the Election Commission’s impartiality concerning a special drive to revise the voter list. As part of their protest against this, leaders of the ‘INDIA’ bloc attempted to march towards Nirvachan Sadan (Election Commission headquarters) but were stopped by the police. In response, Congress leaders staged a sit-in protest outside Akashvani Bhavan.

During the protest, Rahul Gandhi sharply criticized the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alleging that the government is destroying the electoral process. Congress leaders made it clear that the agitation would not cease until they were granted a meeting with the Election Commissioners and their demands were met.

Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, after being prevented from marching, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and several other opposition leaders were detained and placed on a police bus. However, they subsequently managed to leave and enter the Akashvani Bhavan, located next to the Election Commission headquarters; they were still there at the time of the last report.
