A tanker caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz after being struck by an unidentified object. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported this on Friday.
The fire on the tanker has since been brought under control, and the agency confirmed that all crew members on board are safe.
In a statement, the UKMTO said, “All crew are reported safe. However, the environmental impact remains unconfirmed.”
Relevant authorities are investigating the cause and nature of the incident. Amidst this situation, the agency has advised vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to exercise caution and to report any suspicious activity to the UKMTO.
